The soldier met a witch who asked him to get a flintlock for himself from the hollow of an old tree, and for the soldier himself as much money as he could carry. But this is just the beginning of a fascinating story. The soldier will outsmart the witch, manage to get rich, and go broke, and kiss the princess, and get into the dungeon.
